Dear All,
AS112 live at MIXP!
MIXP is now one of the multiple volunteer operators participating in the
AS112 project.
AS112 project aims at securing the DNS system. AS112 helps reduce the
load on IANA blackhole servers by answering PTR queries for private IPv4
addresses.
The AS112 project provides a large number of servers distributed across
the world. This will reduce the load on DNS root servers and makes the
DNS system more secure and robust against DNS DDoS attacks.

Dear All,
The MIXP team is pleased to announce that they have performed a
significant overhaul, and upgrade of the BGP route server service at the
MIXP. From the past weekend, the MIXP BGP route server service now does
RPKI validation, and drops those network prefixes that have an RPKI
state of "Invalid".
Along with completely automated IRRDB based filtering, this helps to
secure users of the service against accidental Internet route leaks, and
brings the operations of the MIXP Service, in line with international
best practices. To facilitate debugging, peers also have access to an
easy to interpret mechanism for discovering which prefixes are filtered
and the reason(s) for this.
Peers with an open peering policy are encouraged to setup BGP session
with the BGP route servers; we strongly advise peering with *both*
route servers for resiliency. The MIXP team is certain that this
positive step contributes to a safer, and more stable internetworking
community in Mauritius.
Questions and/or comments should be sent to noc(a)mixp.org
You can set up sessions to the following:
Route Server 1:

Route-collector/looking-glass service: Peering to this will never result
in any traffic exchange. This is meant purely for troubleshooting and
statistical purposes. Peering sessions to the route collector server are
publicly viewable here: https://lg.mixp.org/

Dear All,
We believe that the meeting was a good start for new and existing members.
As stated yesterday, Emtel is ready for Open Peering with ALL MIXP
members. However it should be a fair game where all players should agree
to peer with each other to the benefit of all members .i.e*. No
Selective Peering *
* *
In case some members continue with their selective peering strategy,
Emtel will have the obligation of doing same.
We would like the committee to present a status on all peering in the
upcoming meetings.
We shall get in touch with you for the pending requests and Emtel shall
remain available on peering(a)emtel.com <mailto:peering@emtel.com> for
future peering.

special agreement.
For all those who are new, we can organise a technical training

* This is about engineers sharing and teaching one another, no IXP policies or running decisions are going to be discussed. Come with your propeller beanie on your head, and your console cable in your pocket.
* It’s intended to be a combination of useful technical info for those operating a network that peers, or those with an interesting in peering in the internet today and time to socialise and network too. So also bring your business cards, peering information and your party hat too.
(Some light munchies and some cold beverages will be available during the social section at the end).
Hope to see you there.
